DESCRIPTION
When ABS, TRAC or VSC is operating, the skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) blinks the slip indicator light to inform the driver that slippage occurred.
When a communication malfunction with the hybrid vehicle control ECU is detected, TRAC and VSC are disabled. Also, TRAC and VSC are disabled when a DTC is stored.
PROCEDURE
1. | BRAKE PROBLEM CHECK |
(a) Check whether the slip indicator light was illuminated when VSC did not operate.
OK:
The slip indicator light was illuminated.
HINT:
When a DTC is stored, the slip indicator light is illuminated and VSC does not operate due to the fail-safe function.
(b) Check whether the vehicle speed was 15 km/h (9 mph) or less when VSC did not operate.
OK:
The vehicle speed was 15 km/h (9 mph) or less.
HINT:
VSC does not operate when the vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9 mph) or less.
(c) Check whether the vehicle was driven straight for a few seconds at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more.
OK:
The vehicle was not driven straight for a few seconds at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more.
HINT:
When the power switch is turned on (IG), as steering angle sensor zero point calibration is not performed below 35 km/h (22 mph), VSC will not operate until the vehicle is driven straight for a few seconds at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more.
OK | END |

2. | CHECK DTC |
(a) Clear the DTCs.

Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Clear DTCs(b) Turn the power switch off.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Check the DTCs (electronically controlled brake system) that are output.

3. | CHECK TIRES |
(a) Check that the tire of each wheel is the correct size.
OK:
The tire of each wheel is the correct size.
NG | REPLACE THE TIRE OF EACH WHEEL WITH THE CORRECT SIZE |
|
4. | CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION |
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) has been installed properly.
OK:
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) is tightened to the specified torque.
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) is not tilted.
OK | OBTAIN YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT |
NG | INSTALL AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY |
