Lexus ES: Lost Communication with Steering Heater ECU (B14B7)

DESCRIPTION

The heated steering wheel controller (steering vibration ECU) communicates with the air conditioning amplifier assembly via LIN communication.

B14B7 is output when a communication malfunction is detected with the air conditioner amplifier assembly and heated steering wheel controller (steering vibration ECU).

  • Malfunction status: Lost communication with air conditioning amplifier assembly and heated steering wheel controller (steering vibration ECU)

  • Air conditioning amplifier assembly
  • Air conditioning control assembly

CHECK FOR DTCs

(a) Check for DTCs.

CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROLLER (STEERING VIBRATION ECU) POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect the G81 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the G81 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the G39 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

(c) Disconnect the G23 air conditioning control assembly connector.

(d) Disconnect the G35 Steering Wheel Heater Switch (Refreshing Seat Switch) connector.

(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY AND AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the G81 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the G39 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

(c) Disconnect the G23 air conditioning control assembly connector.

(d) Disconnect the G35 Steering Wheel Heater Switch (Refreshing Seat Switch) connector.

(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

CHECK FOR DTCs

(a) Clear the DTCs.

(b) Disconnect the G23 air conditioning control assembly connector.

(c) Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

HINT:

If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

(d) Check for DTCs.

(a) Clear the DTCs.

(b) Disconnect the z6 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

(c) Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

HINT:

If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

(d) Check for DTCs.

CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY AND STEERING WHEEL HEATER SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the G81 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the G39 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

(c) Disconnect the G35 Steering Wheel Heater Switch (Refreshing Seat Switch) connector.

(d) Disconnect the G23 air conditioning control assembly connector.

(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

CHECK FOR DTCs

(a) Clear the DTCs.

(b) Disconnect the G35 Steering Wheel Heater Switch (Refreshing Seat Switch) connector.

(c) Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

HINT:

If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

(d) Check for DTCs.

(c) Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

(d) Check for DTCs.
