Lexus ES: System Description

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

GENERAL

The windshield deicer system uses thin heater wires attached to the inside of the windshield glass to help deice the window surface more quickly. An indicator light illuminates while the system is operating. This system automatically turns off after approximately 15 minutes.

NOTICE:

If the battery voltage becomes low, battery load control will operate in order to ensure sufficient power is supplied to the power steering system. In this case, the windshield deicer system may not operate.

Front Wiper Deicer Switch (Multi-display Assembly)

Sends signals to the air conditioning amplifier assembly to operate the windshield deicer system.

Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly

Sends windshield deicer activation request signals to the DEICER relay.

DEICER Relay

Receives windshield deicer activation request signals from the air conditioning amplifier assembly and supplies power to the windshield deicer wire (windshield glass).

Windshield Deicer Wire (Windshield Glass)

Receives power from the DEICER Relay and heats the windshield deicer wire (windshield glass).
