Lexus ES: How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  • Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the power steering system.
  • *: Use the Techstream.

PROCEDURE

1.

VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY

(a) Turn the power switch off.

(b) Measure the voltage of the auxiliary battery.

Standard Voltage:

11 to 14 V

HINT:

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step.

  • If communication to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly cannot be established through the Techstream, inspect terminals CANH and CANL of the DLC3 and the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly, and the IG circuit of the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.
